apps/services i use for music:

• amuse - great distributor. alternatives would be DistroKid, CD Baby & TuneCore (i've used DK as well, but i prefer amuse 100%)
• GarageBand - it's free on Mac/iOS so 🤷. alternatives i've used - Soundtrap & BandLab
• Feature.fm - smartlinks for music (amuse/DK has smartlink/pre-save option by default, so you can also just use that)
• Canva - editing cover art/social media posts
• Fourthwall - the service that keeps this site alive :3

Privacy oriented apps/services i use:

• MEGA (affiliate) - cloud storage/backups
• Proton - VPN, email, calendar, cloud storage, password manager
• Bitwarden / Bitwarden Autheticator - password manager / 2FA
• uBlock Origin - ad-blocker
• Brave - privacy-focused browser/search engine
• Signal - secure messaging. another widely used alternative would be WhatsApp, but since it's owned by Meta, i don't recommend it as much
• VLC - media player
• LibreOffice - office suite
• NextDNS (affiliate) - ad-blocker for apps/websites, also blocks security threats such as malware and phishing
• PrivacyGuides / PrivacyTools / The New Oil / EFF / Surveillance Self-Defense by EFF / Street Level Surveillance by EFF - more info about privacy in general

for people that must bring a sacrifice to the blood moon once a month:

• Stardust - encrypted period tracker. not open-source (as far as i know), but they're very open about the data they collect and why. an open-source alternative would be drip.

for other people:
